Black and White photography is a visual style inspired by classic film noir movies from the 1940s–50s. It’s less about what you shoot and more about how you shoot it—dramatic, moody, and full of contrast. Some characteristics of Black and White or Noir Photography are as follows:

• High contrast lighting — deep blacks and bright highlights (often called low-key lighting)

• Strong shadows — think blinds casting stripes across a face

• Black-and-white tones — though color can be used if it still feels dark and cinematic

• Mystery and storytelling — images often suggest a story rather than explain it

• Urban or nighttime settings — streets, alleys, windows, rain, smoke

Black and white is how I see the world—honest, imperfect, and full of depth. Through my lens, I explore emotion, identity, and quiet moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
